Since my little guy is only four, I wanted to do a fall activity that he can do himself. While he’d love to play with and knife and try to carve a pumpkin, Mommy’s nerves just can’t handle it. So, we opted to paint our pumpkins this year. He loved it! He actually got 3 pumpkins to paint himself (he started with one, but he knows how to sweet talk his Nana and sister). We got water-based, washable paint, foam paint brushes, and let him go to town.
My little man in action. Look at that concentration! Our works of art!
If you need a safe alternative for younger kids or are looking to add a little something different to your fall display this year, this is the way to do it! You could also use stencils to make a specific design. Camel & Birdie has some free hand lettered printables for you to use as a stencil or even just print them and frame them for an easy decorative touch to your home.
