Having never been to Philadelphia before, I was totally in love with every aspect of it. Here’s a little overview of what I saw while I was there for Thanksgiving weekend.
We stayed at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Philadelphia, which was the neatest hotel, with tons of character, fun touches, and a great location! The lobby had huge, oversized wardrobes (that probably 4 people could fit in comfortably), a chess board for people to play, and a crystal chandelier in the shape of a ship. They even had a pink copy of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ in every room – how fun!
After we checked into the hotel, it was time to see the sights. First stop, I had to get a cheese steak. Then came Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Boat House Row, the Philadelphia Museum of Art (where Rocky ran up those famous stairs), City Hall, and soaked up all of the fall colors. Seeing the history, architecture and strolling around in the crisp 40 degree weather made me fall in love with Philly.
Our last stop was the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and was it stunning! The cathedral was completed in 1890 and is a show stopper! There were intricate wood carvings, scrolls, marble, and stained glass everywhere. Sometimes in life, photos just don’t do the occasion justice and this was one of those times.
Philadelphia, thanks for being so great to us! I can’t wait to go back!
