Finding what you need on Pinterest can definitely be overwhelming! We all have those boards where we find something, pin it, and then it’s never seen again. We have good intentions, but it happens.

Recently, I went to a workshop on using Pinterest for business and I learned a lot about the business side. But I wanted to share with you some tips that might help you narrow down your focus when you’re trying to plan a party, home renovation, meal for dinner, or wardrobe.

  1. Pinterest is a search engine. So think about it like you would Google. When you want to find something on Google, you have to be as specific as possible. If you’re looking for a recipe for chicken and simply type in ‘chicken recipe’, you’re going to come up with literally millions of pins to sift through. However, if you know that you want to use your crock pot and you want to use some elbow noodles, you would want to put that all together in the search bar. This will help you narrow down your search to things that are more applicable to you.
  2. Go in with purpose. It is oh so easy to get distracted in Pinterest. In order for me not to get lost down the Pinterest wormhole, I write a list of what I need before I start. So, for instance, I’m working on planning my son’s birthday currently and I know that I’m going to need a cake, decor, food, etc. So after I have my list written out of what I’ll need, I start on my search. having that list in front of me helps me keep on track and decide if it’s a necessity or not.
  3. Create a ‘Completed Pins’ Board. This is SO helpful when you’re looking through your craft projects or recipes and you want to try something new. If you create a board that has everything you’ve already done in it, you can move those pins that you’ve already done over to the ‘Completed’ board. You can also write a note about it in the caption stating whether you liked it or not and if there’s anything you would change about it. I’ve found this super helpful for around the holidays when I take a new dish to a get together with friends and someone asks me for the recipe. This way, I don’t have to search through the millions of ideas I have, just the things I know I’ve already made.

I hope these tips help you out! And if you’re in the market of following someone new, I’d love to have you follow me here.
