The Hurried Hostess’ Signature Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

March 25, 2018
The Hurried Hostess’ Signature Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

A few short days ago, I was upset about something someone had sent me in a DM on Instagram. It was mean and hateful and the words they wrote put me in a major funk that day. I didn’t know this person and I didn’t have any reason for why they were spewing such hateful comments towards me, but there I was on the receiving end of it.

It’s in moments like these that we find out what we’re made of. There were definitely some parts of me that wanted to quit that day. Stop blogging, stop putting myself out there for people to judge, and shy away from the spotlight. But that’s not me.

And it’s a good thing I didn’t quit that day because the very next day I got a request from Breville to be their spokesperson at the Williams Sonoma Wedding Expo. What an honor! And with this honor came their request for me to make 1000 cookies to give out to guests in their Breville Lounge at the event. Oye. Have you ever made 1000 cookies at once? Yeah, me neither. But I was bound and determined to do it!

So what better recipe for me to make than my signature Hurried Hostess Chocolate Chip Cookies. They’re chewy, sweet, and chocolatey and they can’t be beat!

So, I did it. I made the cookies. All 1000 of them. And later today I will be headed to Silver Street Studios for the event and I’m so excited! If you’re coming, make sure to stop by and grab a cookie! If you’re unable to attend, make sure to try out this recipe!

Ready. Set. Bake!

The Hurried Hostess’ Signature Chocolate Chip Cookies

Are you ready for the best dang chocolate chip cookie you've ever put in your mouth? There is no better recipe for this American dessert staple than my signature Hurried Hostess Chocolate Chip Cookies! They're chewy, sweet, chocolatey and can't be beat!

  • 1.5 sticks of butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 Tablespoon molasses
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 heaping teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  1. Step One. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine the butter and sugars until creamy. Slowly add in one egg at a time to the mixture, as well as the vanilla and molasses. Make sure to scrape down the bowl and combine the ingredients well.
  2. Step Two. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Step Three. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet mixture, again scraping down the sides and incorporating the ingredients well. Mix in the chocolate chips last.

  4. Step Four. Place a sheet of parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Make 2 tablespoon size balls of dough and place them at least 3 inches apart on the cookie sheet. Now for the secret ingredient…top each cookie dough ball with a little sprinkle of salt. (I know it sounds crazy, but just trust me on this one!)

  5. Step Five. Bake for 9-11 minutes, turning the pan around halfway through.
