Hot Cocoa Bar

December 12, 2016

Mmm hot cocoa…is there anything better on a cold winter day? Well, maybe if it had some marshmallows in it…

At my daughter’s first birthday party, I wanted to serve the tasty treat but I know that people have all different likes for what goes on their hot chocolate, so I thought, why not have a hot cocoa topping bar?

This was a super fun, sugar-filled set up and I really had to restrain myself and not put TOO many options out their for my guests. Because when chocolate is involved, more is always better.

I kept the hot cocoa piping hot in the slow cooker and had this little tray of goodies beside it. The toppings I had were marshmallows, sprinkles of all different colors, whipped cream, candy canes, shaved coconut, M&M’s, Ande’s mint pieces, and Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips.

The hot cocoa bar was an absolute hit! Everyone loved mixing up their own concoctions and it was a great conversation starter as well for those who didn’t know one another.

This is definitely an idea I’ll be bringing back next year with all new topping choices – except for marshmallows – those are a must have!
