I just love box meal subscription companies! After all, I don’t have to think about what to fix or go grocery shopping! How great is that? I had heard great things about Martha & Marley Spoon, so I decided to give them a try for myself. They send me the meals for free, but I wanted to give you an honest opinion of the level of difficulty and tell you whether or not it was worth the price tag. Here’s a breakdown of the meals.
Meal #1 – Lemony Carbonara
Pros: It was delicious. Pasta always wins in my book, so adding cheese and bacon to it can’t be a bad thing. Ever.
Cons: It took 4 different pans to make it. That’s a lot of dishes to do – way more than I’d like, really. The kids barely ate it. I’m not sure why, but they just didn’t inhale it like I did. There’s not a ton of protein to it. The pieces of bacon are pretty much the only sources of protein in it, so
Meal #2 – Seared Steak & Crispy Potatoes
Pros: This one was a one pot meal. Now that’s what I’m talking about! It was delicious! Both kids and the hubby inhaled it! No one complained about eating veggies or anything! The sriracha spice wasn’t spicy at all – it just gave a good flavor.
Cons: By the time I was done, there was grease everywhere. After frying potatoes, green beans, and cooking a steak, everything around the stove was covered in grease.
