Brandless – A Review

I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com) to use and post my honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided and this page may contain affiliate links.

Have you ever tried couponing? So, couponing is where you gather a bunch of coupons for a particular item, wait for it to go on sale, and then go buy bunch of it paying almost nothing. I don’t have that kind of patience. Plus, I don’t really need 100 tubes of toothpaste all at once. I mean, where do you even store that many items?

The times I’ve tried in the past was when I would go to the store to buy one item and have a coupon for it. Same basic idea, right? But the funny thing was that when I compared that name brand item plus the coupon discount, it was still more expensive than the store’s off brand counterpart. Why is that? Why do name brand items have to be so marked up?

Well let me tell you – there’s this thing called a “Brand Tax”. Basically, it means that those items that you want a specific brand of, you pay extra because it’s that particular brand. Weird, right? I mean, it’s the same contents as the off brand stuff, so why the additional fee?

Well now there’s a company out there combating the brand name phenomenon. It’s called Brandless. Let me explain how it works. You start out by their B More Membership. It’s $36 for the year. Membership allows you to get free shipping on all orders and you can order as often as you like. Then you simply add the products that you’d like to your cart and they show up on your doorstep. Every item that they sell is just $3. That’s right. You heard me correctly. So from cleaning supplies and snacks to gift bags and toiletries, you can get it all for just $3 each. Also included in your membership is a donation of 10 meals to those in need, so you can feel good about where your money is going.

If you’d like to sign up, here is a promo code for Brandless for 33% off your membership fee!

Here’s a look at what I got to sample:

  • Gel Hand Soap – Eucalyptus & Lavender. I prefer a hand soap that’s foaming, but this one smells pretty good and the scent would work well in a bathroom or kitchen.
  • Body Lotion – Green Tea & Aloe. I don’t typically like to buy lotions and candles and stuff like that online, because I want to smell the items before buying them, but man oh man do these smell good!
  • Body Wash – Green Tea & Aloe. The smell is heavenly. Seriously. It just smells so good!
  • Cookie Thins – Chocolate Chip. I don’t typically like crispy cookies, but these are pretty good. They’re not perfectly round, so they appear to actually be real cookie dough that spreads unevenly. They’re crispy and delicious and would probably go really well
  • Tomato Basil Hummus Crisps. I actually really like these better than those other puffed chips. They’re a bit thinner and the flavor is better.
  • Organic Beef Jerky. This one has a good flavor but what I really like is that the pieces inside are bite size. I hate giant pieces of beef jerky that you have gnaw on to get apart, and you won’t have an issue with that with these.
  • Lemon Verbena Surface Cleaning Wipes. I love cleaning wipes for removing stickiness and everyday residue from the kitchen table and counter tops and these work the same as the brand name ones that I’m used to but they have a nice smell to them too.
  • Aged White Cheddar Partially Popped Popcorn. I’m not into them. The texture is just weird and I can’t figure out why anyone would want to eat a flavored popcorn kernel.
  • Organic Cheese Ducks. If you’ve ever had those cheesy fish, then you’ve tasted one of these. They taste exactly the same – they’re just in tiny duck form instead. My kiddos loved them and they’re a great snack to pack in your purse for when the kids (or you) get hungry and need a little something.
