Checklist for Setting an Elegant Table

January 28, 2018

When inviting guests over for an elegant dinner party or brunch, you’ll want to make sure you have all the things you need in order to pull it off (besides the food of course). To help you out, I’ve compiled a list of exactly what you’ll need:

Plates/Bowls. You have to have something to eat on! Make sure you have the right items, be it a bowl, salad plate, or dinner plate. And if you’re not interested in doing the dishes afterwards, make sure to get some cute (and disposable) items.

Glasses. What’s a meal without something to wash it down with? Make sure that sweet tea or mimosas have something to be served out of!

Napkins. You’ve got to have something to wipe that grease off your chin or dab on your lips! Cloth or napkin- take your pick!

Silverware. If you’re not having a meal filled with just finger foods, chances are you’re going to need some tools to eat with. Serving spoons and forks too!

Tablecloth/Table Runner (optional). This one is totally optional if you have an already gorgeous wood table. But if you don’t, you might want to consider covering it up with a tablecloth or table runner!

Candles. It’s time to set the mood! An elegant dinner calls for long, tapered candlesticks, while a brunch might need some tealights or votives. It’s your call, but you can never go wrong with candles – just make sure they’re unscented!

Flowers. Flowers are always nice on a table. Whether it’s one big arrangement in the center in a vase or a bunch of small bud vases with single stems in them, flowers are always a nice touch.

Forget Brunch with the Girls, Try Coffee and Cupcakes for Valentine’s Day Instead!

I’m just going to say it. Valentine’s Day is not my favorite holiday. I’ve never really cared to give my classmates fold-over valentine’s that have cutesie messages in them and are sealed with a heart sticker. My husband and I hardly ever celebrate it. For […]
