My first introduction to football was when I was in high school. I was in the marching band, and every Friday night meant that we’d be playing songs in the stands, marching on the field, and cheering on our home team. Our team wasn’t very good, but we didn’t care – it was all about the excitement of the challenge of the other team and watching people that we had classes with show off their athletic skills.
Before that time of my life, football was never even on my radar. We weren’t a “sporty” family, and the only time sports were on our tv was when it was time for the Olympics. And then I met my husband…
Fun fact: we became friends after meeting in that exact same marching band. One difference: he knew what he was watching when he saw a football game. Over the years, he has explained to me the rules and how the points are made. (Although I will probably never understand the different player positions and the difference between a quarterback, full back and, outside linebacker.
Sticking to What I Know
But what I can tell you about is food that works well during a football game. You see, while watching a football game (especially the BIG game), you can’t eat just anything. It’s got to be portable (for when you have to jump out of you seat to cheer for that field goal), not require a utensil, and be totally delicious. I think I’ve found the perfect food to eat during the game that checks off every box on that list.
We like to eat while we watch as a family. That’s why I love getting items like Tyson® Any’tizers® snacks in their resealable bags. I can heat just the amount I need and get them ready quickly and easily! I can get these Tyson® Any’tizers® snacks out and heated up way faster than I could ever get a pizza delivered on game day!
This past grocery trip at HEB, I got the Tyson® Crispy Chicken Strips, Any’tizers® Popcorn Chicken, and Aidells® Meatballs. I love keeping the meatballs warm in the slow cooker and the kids love the bite-size quality of the popcorn chicken. But I specifically wanted to get the Tyson® Crispy Chicken Strips so that I could make buffalo chicken wraps. I love spicy chicken wings, so with these all white meat chicken strips and a little buffalo sauce, I was able to make my favorite football snack into a less messy option! And now they’re even crispier! I purchased all of these products at my local HEB. If you’re looking for the closest HEB to you, go here.
