Easy Garlic Knots

One of my favorite things about Thanksgiving each year is my dad’s rolls. Now, don’t get too excited – he buys them frozen at the grocery store, but he lets them thaw and rise for hours before finally cooking them and slathering them with butter. And man oh man are they good! We all eat WAY too many of those delicious things – ham sandwich leftovers anyone?

And no one can make those rolls like my dad. They just can’t. Recently, my dad threw out his back and he has been pretty immobilized by it. So it’s pretty safe to say that those tasty dinner rolls of my dad’s just aren’t happening this year. So I decided to try my hand at making rolls of my very own. These garlic knots are absolutely nothing like what we usually have, but they are pretty darn delicious in their own right.

These pre-made biscuits are cut in half, rolled out and tied into a knot. They’re then generously slathered with a garlic and herb butter sauce and baked to perfection. They’re the perfect addition to any Thanksgiving meal and easy enough that they can be made to go with a weeknight spaghetti dinner. Enjoy!

Servings: 16 knots
Course: bread
Cuisine: American
Ingredients Method Video

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 16-ounce tube refrigerated buttermilk biscuits

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix together butter, Parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, parsley and salt; set aside.
  3. Cut each of the biscuits in half, making 16 pieces. Roll each piece into a 5-inch rope, about 1/2-inch thick, and tie into a knot.
  4. Place the knots on the prepared baking sheet and brush each knot with half of the butter mixture. Place into oven and bake until golden brown, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Brush with the remaining butter mixture and serve immediately.
