Hot Food and Cold Drinks at Gordon Street Tavern in Alvin, TX

Housed in a building built in the 1800s in Alvin, Texas, you’ll find Gordon Street Tavern – a brewpub for locals and visitors alike. Owner Henry, and Chef and Brewmaster, Jay, have quite the hit on their hands with this tasty eatery. Their most popular beer they craft is their Hefeweizen, but with over 30 beers on tap to choose from, you’re sure to find one that suits your tastes.

This brewery isn’t just serving up craft beers – they also have a ton of great eats on the menu. Here’s a few I was able sample while there.

Jammin Buffalo Burger. This double buffalo burger is topped with bacon tomato jam, provolone cheese, and onion strings.

Huevo In Purgatory. This bowl of all beef chili is served with a fried egg on top and a side of bread and pollenta cakes. It’s a unique combination and a little greasy, but still really good.

Go Pig Or Go Home. This is the owner Henry’s favorite dish on the menu and I can definitely see why. This pork is fork tender and melt in your mouth delicious. Oh, and it’s served with truffle mac and cheese, so where exactly is the down side on this one?

Pan Seared Salmon. Seared to perfection, this salmon filet is the perfect choice for those who want a lighter option. It’s served with asparagus and a side of bacon tomato jam.

Flat Iron Steak Salad. This Arcadian blend of lettuce is topped with perfectly grilled flat iron steak, hard boiled eggs, and diced tomato.

Devonshire Cream Dessert. This sweet dessert was the perfect ending to the meal. It was light, refreshing, and delicious. It features a base of sweet cream with strawberry puree and mandarin oranges.

I also got to go behind the scenes and see their beer-making setup. I’m not a beer drinker myself, but I can definitely appreciate all of the work and math that goes into it.

Something you didn’t know about – they also have a small space next door available for dinner parties and small events. The space will fit about 40 people.
