Houston Life TV Appearance – Dia de Los Muertos Recap

It wasn’t until after the movie Coco came out earlier this year that I really got it. I always thought that it was just another version of Halloween – but boy was I wrong! So after doing some research and a little celebration inspiration of my own, my friend Kathleen and I hosted a party dedicated to all things Dia de los Muertos. After the producers at Houston Life saw it, they asked us to be on the show and here’s a little recap of our time there.

Y’all….the nerves were real this morning. Being on tv is fun, but man oh man did it stress me out today! Today on Channel 2 (KPRC), I joined my friend Kathleen Maca to talk all about the Day of the Dead or “Dia de los Muertos”. As a history buff, Kathleen knows all sorts of cool information, so on the show today she talked about the history of the holiday and how it is a day of remembering those who have passed before us and the celebration of their life during Dia de los Muertos.

So after Kathleen played her game show with the hosts of the show – Courtney and Derrick, I got to show them a little party inspiration to really take this day of remembrance over the top! We drank hot chocolate, decorated cookies, and made chile con queso from scratch – all while wearing flower crowns of course! Below you’ll find the recipes, decor, and link to the full video. Enjoy!
