Everywhere you look there is great architecture, people, and music. We saw street performers, hundreds of motorcycles and bicycles, people walking their dogs, and storefronts. Barcelona is a truly relaxing and laid back city.
Basilica de la Sagrada Familia. This gorgeous cathedral has been under construction since it was first started way back in 1866. In 1883, Gaudi took over construction on this elaborate church and you can definitely see his influences in the building. This place is huge…and with construction being ongoing, it’s only getting bigger!
Parc de la Ciutadella. This manicured park has great walking paths and a large, beautiful fountain in the middle. It’s a great place to grab a blanket, picnic, and have a little siesta.
Parc Guell. This super eclectic park was a collaboration between entrepreneur Eusebi Guell and architect Antoni Gaudi. This public park was once Guell’s estate and Gaudi’s unique style is seen all over the park.
Arc de Triomf. This is the smaller, Spanish version of the one in Paris.
Casa Batllo. Another one of Gaudi’s creations, this museum is open 365 days a year and only takes about an hour to visit. This unique estate on Paseo de Gracia is connected to the equally unique Casa Amatller, Casa Lleo Morera, Casa Mulleras, and Casa Josepfina Bonet – which makes this street one of the most unique areas of architecture in the country.
La Ramblas. This main street is a walking path lined with cafes, shops, pavement artists, markets, and living statues.
Chocolate Museum (Museu de la Xocolata). If you’re a choco-holic like me, then you’re going to want to see (and taste) this place.
Museu del Perfum. If you enjoy perfume, you can take a tour of this perfumery and see which scent is your perfect blend!
La Boqueria Market. If you enjoy farmer’s markets, then this is the place for you! You can try all sorts of local fruits, vegetables, meats, and delicacies.
Aquarium de Barcelona. This huge aquarium has all the fishy goodness you could want with sharks, octopus, seahorse, and more.
