Pretty in Pink is one of those classic 80’s movies. If you haven’t seen it – you should! But my love for the color pink is relatively new. I’ve always been a bit of tomboy at heart and “girly stuff” (like the color pink) weren’t part of the equation. But something changed over the years. My disdain for this rosey hue is now gone and has been replaced with a love for it. This perfectly feminine color is soft, dainty, and oh-so-pretty. So I knew that when I wanted to make some pom pom flowers for Hayden’s teachers for Valentine’s Day, that they would have to be pink. So here’s how to make this cute little balls of fluff on sticks.
What You’ll Need:
- sticks
- yarn
- scissors
- green felt or foam sheets
- white spray paint
- hot glue gun
- ribbon
Step One. Use this tutorial to make some pom poms. And make them big. The bigger the better, actually!
Step Two. You’ll then go find some sticks. That’s right – go outside, find some sticks about a foot long, and bring them inside. Break off any little extra branches sticking off of it. Spray paint these sticks white.
Step Three. Cut out some leaves from green felt or foam. Just eyeball it. It doesn’t have to be perfect. You can do separate leaves, or you can do two leaves put together end to end.
Step Four. It’s gluing time! Glue a pom pom on to the top end of a stick. A couple inches down from the top, you’ll glue on the leaves. Repeat this process until you have them all made.
Step Five. Wrap them all up with ribbon and you’re done! You could even wrap them in tissue paper to make them resemble a real bouquet of flowers even more!
The best part of this craft? These fun flowers don’t die and will last for as long as you want them to! Have fun crafting everyone!
