Create a Road Trip Snack Arrival Pack and Start Your Vacation Off Right!

I love going on vacations with my family. Before I’m even home from one, I’ve already started dreaming of the next one. The beach, the mountains, whatever – it really doesn’t matter, I just love getting away from the house and exploring new places with my hubby and kiddos.

Within the last few months, we’ve taken the kids to both the mountains and the beach and both were just perfect. But the kiddos really seemed to love the beach more. They love squishing the sand between their toes, building sand castles, and running around trying to catch one another. On our last trip to the beach, we also brought bubble guns and they had a blast – at least until baby girl spilled her bottle of bubbles…

If I’m being totally honest though, I have a hard time relaxing while on family vacations. Our kids are still young (they’re 5 and 2), so it’s more like herding cats and making sure they don’t hurt themselves than actually relaxing. But one thing I’ve learned is to always come prepared with lots of snacks. Everyone is happy as long as their tummies are full. And if everyone is happy, Mommy keeps her sanity.

It never fails. I head out on a road trip, reach my destination, get everything unpacked from the car, sit down, and then it hits me. I’m hungry. There’s no ignoring that tummy rumble, but it’s too early for dinner and I don’t have the energy to go get anything anyway. In fact, the last thing I want to do is get back in the car. So what’s a girl to do? I get out my handy arrival snack bag! This bag contains lots of goodies for me to munch on that won’t make me too full for dinner in a few hours. Curious on what you should put in your arrival snack pack? Here’s a few tips:

Fruits. A little fruit in you bag is perfect because it stifles those sweets cravings and is good for you too! Just make to include fruits you don’t have to cut to enjoy, like raspberries, strawberries, grapes, bananas, and clementines.

Carbs. Sometimes you just need something starchy in your life. Pretzels and crackers are great to nibble on and will pair nicely with the other goodies in your bag. Whether sweet or savory, it’s an easy addition!

Wine. What says relaxation better than popping open a bottle of wine. So what if it’s only 2pm? I mean, why not? You’re on vacation right? Make sure to bring a bottle of your favorite wine with you from home so you can sip and snack and start enjoying your vacation right away.

Meat and Cheese. A little protein is perfect to keep you going until you muster up the energy to leave the hotel room and venture out to that restaurant you’ve bookmarked on Yelp. I snagged this Creminelli Fine Meats™ Felino & Manchego Snack Pack and the Creminelli Sopressata, Monterey Jack, and Cracker Snack Pack at Starbucks, but they also carry them at Kroger, Whole Foods, and Target. If you’d like to find out more about their high quality products, check out their Instagram page here.

So on your next road trip, make sure to keep the end in mind and pack those arrival snacks ahead of time. Your vacation self will thank you!
