My favorite recipes are the ones with 5 ingredients or less and look like you’re a rock star in the kitchen when it couldn’t have been simpler to make. This recipe by Emeril Lagasse is one of those recipes. For my Mother’s Day spread, I’m including these savory prosciutto Palmiers. They’re puff pastry rolled up with salty prosciutto, tangy Dijon mustard, and a little Parmesan cheese. It really couldn’t be simpler to show your mom how much you love her this Mother’s Day.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 to 3 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 3 ounces prosciutto
- 1/2 cup shredded Asiago or Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
Directions
Step One. Roll out the puff pastry to a square and brush lightly with mustard.
Step Two. Add one layer of prosciutto and then sprinkle the cheese over the top of the meat.
Step Three. Roll up two opposing sides until they meet in the middle. Brush the egg wash on the puff pastry where they meet in the middle. Wrap the entire roll tightly in plastic wrap and freeze it for about an hour.
Step Four. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Take the roll out of the freezer and remove the plastic wrap. Slice the roll into 1/4 inch slices.
Step Five. Place parchment paper on a cookie sheet and place the palmiers on the sheet about an inch apart. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until they’re lightly browned.
