This past week I attended the first ever meeting for the Rising Tide Society’s Galveston chapter. I’ve attended other groups in the past (the main Houston one and the Sugar Land one), but it was neat to see the beginning stages of a new group. The Rising Tide Society is a national organization who’s mantra is “community over competition”. It’s a free-to-join organization for creative business owners and hobbyists to come together and have a sense of community – since so much of our jobs is isolating in nature. The group meets once per month and every month the location is different. We keep up with one another and where the meetings will be via a facebook group. Our leader, Dawn, found a great spot to house our first meeting – Sugar Bean Coffee and Cream in Galveston, Tx. It’s a little cute coffee shop that has a great vibe, delicious coffee, and plenty of space to spread out. Don’t come hungry though, because they don’t serve food.

Here’s a look at the Sugar Bean.

The front porch is a great place to watch the day go by and is cutely decorated in a totally beachy kind of Galveston way.

 Mocha latte! Yum!

The back patio is a great, relaxing place to hang out a while. While I was there, the place was brimming with college kids studying for their classes and local business owners discussing their future endeavors.
