Summertime is Calling

This post is sponsored by Sonic Slush Pops and BrandSaver.com. All photos and opinions are mine.

I love summertime. I love being able to sleep in (even if the kids only let me sleep 5 minutes past my school time alarm, it feels glorious), take my kids on fun outings, and enjoy a few road trips. But I also know that if I don’t have activities lined up for my kids and I to do, I will lose my mind.

This summer, I’ve already planned for my son to attend 4 different Vacation Bible Schools at local churches and I’m thinking about possibly adding some swimming and baseball camps as well. He has so much energy and I’ve found that if I can have him in an activity for the first half of the day, I can get some work done while he’s gone and then enjoy some time together after he’s finished for the day. It really works out well for all of us. But one activity we will engage in {probably} weekly is water balloon fights. It’s so fun to get those self-filling water balloons and get silly – 100 balloons at a time. “Miss Priss” usually just chunks them at the ground and squeals and the little guy is usually aiming to soak me. And of course during all of this, the dogs are just trying to steer clear of us. More often than not, we’ll also “surprise” attack my husband when he gets home from work and comes in the backyard looking for us.

It’s so good to just be silly with the kids. So much of our lives are planned out – school, after school activities, work events, etc. and it’s fun to live in the moment and relax.

Of course another summer activity is enjoying an icy cold treat. Snow cones are always a hit, but it’s such a pain to get both kids out of the house, take them to get the snow cones, and then clean up the mess they make afterwards. I just can’t. So, popsicles are always on hand at my house. I can hand them one, push them outside, and then hose them off when they’re done. That’s what you do in the summer, right?

So I recently found some new Sonic Slush Pops. That’s right – Sonic, the fast food restaurant, came out with popsicles in some of their most popular flavors – Ocean Water, Cherry Limeade and Strawberry Lemonade. You can find them in the frozen dessert section at H-E-B and Walmart (or use this store locator), so you can just pick them up with the rest of your grocery list. You won’t be able to miss them because they have that signature Sonic logo right on the front of the box. My kids loved the taste and they got blue tongues, so that’s always a plus in their books as well.

So get ready folks, summer is almost here and it’s time keep those kids active and having fun!
