Ingredients

  • 1.5 sticks of butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 Tablespoon molasses
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 heaping teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Step One. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine the butter and sugars until creamy. Slowly add in one egg at a time to the mixture, as well as the vanilla and molasses. Make sure to scrape down the bowl and combine the ingredients well.
  • Step Two. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Step Three. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet mixture, again scraping down the sides and incorporating the ingredients well. Mix in the chocolate chips last.
  • Step Four. Place a sheet of parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Make 2 tablespoon size balls of dough and place them at least 3 inches apart on the cookie sheet. Now for the secret ingredient...top each cookie dough ball with a little sprinkle of salt. (I know it sounds crazy, but just trust me on this one!)
  • Step Five. Bake for 9-11 minutes, turning the pan around halfway through.
