I didn’t figure this out about myself until recently, but I’ve always been afraid of setting goals. I think it’s because I’m afraid of failing. And if I write something down or say that I’m working towards something and it doesn’t happen, I feel defeated. But this year, I am determined to be different. I’m going to put it all out there. I’ve heard before that if something is scary, then it’s worth it. So here it goes. Here are the things I would like to accomplish in 2019. Some of these things may happen this year and some may take a little longer, but I’m committed to working towards them no matter what.
Faith
This past year has tested my faith in so many ways, but God has been so faithful in taking care of me and my family. This year, I want to continue my growth by continuing to attend church every week, doing daily devotionals, and volunteer more at church.
Family
Spend as much quality time as possible together. I am very family oriented, so the more things we do together, the better.
Travel
I have to break travel into two categories – with kids and without kids. With kids, I’d love to finally take them to Disney World. Our house is officially diaper free, so I’m ready to spend a week or so at Disney riding rides at Hollywood Studios, hugging Princesses at the Magic Kingdom and eating the cuisines of the world in Epcot. As soon as we had kids, I couldn’t wait to take them to Disney and see the magic in their eyes. I’d also like to visit Nantucket. I think it’s such a beautiful and quaint island in Massachusetts and I think it would be neat to experience it.
For traveling without kids, I’d like to take an international trip. My all time goal is to visit Santorini, Greece, but I’m really game for wherever. Thailand and the Maldives would also be neat.
Health
Exercise 3 times per week. And I’m not talking about just walking on a treadmill for 30 minutes and calling it a day. Oh no. I’m talking about absolutely wearing my body out with weight training and cardio. I always feel so much better about myself after working out – it’s my therapy.
Relationships
I’d like to make more friendships with other couples with young kids. Making friends as an adult is hard and that’s only magnified by having young kids. I’d love to make friendships with other couples who are in the same life stage as me and live close by.
Business
I’d love to incorporate more videos into my workload. I’m really enjoying learning how to create videos and I want to get better at it and continue to make more of them.
I really feel it tugging on my heart to write a book. This year, I’d like to finish a first draft of one. I haven’t completely fleshed out what all it’s going to include, but I’ve been compiling thoughts for it for years, so I’m eager to get started in piecing it together.
This one will probably take longer than a year, but I’d love to create my own line of tableware items. Just think about it – you could purchase Hurried Hostess branded plates, napkins, cutlery, etc online or in a store near you. How cool would that be?
People
This one is a bit of a stretch, but I’d like to meet Martha Stewart, Ellen DeGeneres, and Gordon Ramsay. I think they’re insanely talented and just meeting them would be so cool for me. I’d also like to interview Joanna Gaines. I think she’s an amazing woman of faith that had accomplished so much in addition to having a family life and I’d love to talk to her about how she does it all.
Brands I Want to Work With
As someone who pays the bills with sponsored posts and campaigns, I do have a “bucket list” of sorts of companies that I would love to work with. Disney is number one. I’m such a kid at heart and getting paid to go to Disney would be the ultimate dream come true. United Airlines, National Geographic, Sur La Table, Williams Sonoma, and Pinterest are others that would be amazing to work with.
So there you have it. Those are my goals for 2019. If you have any connections to pass along to me for any of these, I would certainly love to hear it! Thanks for the support!
