The weather right now is absolute heaven. As I sit here in my office with the windows open and the sun shining in, I can’t help but smile. Why is it that our moods are so affected by what the clouds are doing outside?

One day earlier this month was not quite so sunny, so our girl’s garden party we had planned took a turn for the indoors. Rain clouds loomed overhead and we just couldn’t chance it. But such is life, right? Now, typically I really love rainy days, but when you’re planning for an event, those are not the kind of rainy days I want.

But the girls and I pressed on. And you know what? It turned out absolutely amazing anyway. We had a beautiful tablescape put together by Life of Alley, plenty of food from me, and the cutest herb planting cart from Toast from the Host you’ve ever seen. Want the breakdown? Let’s get into it.

Decor

Life of Alley made the most beautiful table for our garden party! She incorporated faux eucalyptus strands with fresh peaches and pink faux peonies. You can learn more about how to decorate a tablescape with fruit on her blog here.

Food

What is a party without food? Well, I’m not sure, but it’s definitely not a party at all in my book! Since I was partnering with some top-notch hostesses, you know I had to bring my A-Game in the food department. But I didn’t want to bring just anything, so I opted to bring fresh meal items that were plant-based, gluten-free, dairy-free, and then some that were just for fun.

Roasted Garlic Hummus

This easy recipe for roasted garlic hummus can be made in minutes, and is perfect for any diet type! It contains all natural ingredients, is gluten free, dairy free, soy free, and sugar free – so you won’t feel bad going back over and over again for more! I served it with crudités of sliced bell pepper, sugar peas, cucumbers, and carrots.

Spicy Pineapple Salsa

Warning: this is addicting. Seriously, this fresh pineapple salsa has the best flavor and it so refreshing! I chose to serve mine in a hollowed out pineapple and serve it with gluten-free chips. Delicious munching without the guilt!

Protein Packed Yogurt Bowl

Well, it’s not dairy-free, but it is refreshing and put all of those good pro-biotics into your system. This yogurt bowl is packed with almonds, cashews, dried cranberries, raspberries, and pomegranate seeds. So grab a spoon and dig in!

Turkey & Guacamole Sandwiches

Okay, okay, so I had to add a little bit of meat to the spread. A local deli that I go to offers a turkey and guacamole sandwich, and I wanted to pay homage to that with my own version. It’s so easy to layer up the guac and deli turkey meat and offers a little something different than the traditional tea sandwich spread.

Iced Garden Sugar Cookies

Hot Mess Cookie Co hit it out of the park, er, garden with this one! She made the most adorable decorated sugar cookies in the shape of seeds bags, watering cans, gardening boots, and even a garden gnome! So adorable!

Herb Garden Cart

Lauren at Toast from the Host is the Queen of bar carts, or at least I’ve dubbed her so. She has such a knack for bringing together all of the perfect elements in order to create something beautiful, functional, and creative. And this herb garden cart is all of those things and more! In this blog post, Lauren details how to pull it all off – from where she gets her garden supplies to how to pull it all together in a fresh, cohesive way. You’re really going to love it.
